Resources to develop spirituality with young people are very mixed. On this page you will
find some materials that work, especially around prayer with teenagers. You will find the
daily prayer patterns for use in the classroom an imaginative approach that can help to
establish routines. The variations on the basic pattern can help to stimulate the leader's
imagination and extend their repertoire of styles. The prayer criteria are useful in suggesting
guidelines for selecting and using prayers.

Fr those who are involved in chaplaincy you may find the recent sef document from
Thornleigh College an interesting overview of one particular chaplaincy. Form tutors and
youth workers might find the 40 developmental assets of young people a provocative way of
thinking about the needs of the young people with whom they work. The rights of young
people are listed in another document and you might want to try to compose a second
document with young people about their responsibilities in an increasingly individualised
society. Finally there is a creed for teachers- to remind us of why we work with young
people.

Melbourne Conference 2009
At a recent conference in Melbourne I presented some papers on the
preventive system which you can download here. The first is an explanation of preventive
techniques. The second is a review of the preventive system as spirituality. The third is an
exploration of the connections between the Gospel and the preventive system. The last
presentation is a reflection on the oratory model and the preventive system that lead to
making Don Bosco's hat. There is also a questionnaire that might be of interest on this topic
